Sheldon O. Smith

Sheldon passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Faye, son Kevin (Kathryn), daughter Kristina (Denis) and grandchildren Kayla, Kohen and Jazmin.
Sheldon was born in Boiestown, New Brunswick in 1940. He grew up in St. Catherine's, Ontario, with his two brothers and sister, Delmer, Leon, Roxanne. He arrived in Victoria, BC in 1959, after having been selected to attend HMCS Venture for officer training as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Airforce.
Sheldon and Faye were married in 1964 while working for The Hudson Bay Company in Victoria. Five years later they purchased "Nanaimo Sewing and Sound", a business on Commercial Street in Nanaimo in 1969. He was a member the Nanaimo Jaycees and various other business networking groups. Later he was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Bastion City Wanderers and Probus.
Those that knew Sheldon would say he was positive, cheerful, enthusiastic and always ready for his next adventure. He was hardworking, a good listener and willing to help where he could.
A service will be held at First Memorial Services, Nanaimo at 11:00am on Friday, June 10th, 2022 following with a tea and social at Branch 256, Legion 12:30pm - 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cancer Society.
