It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Richard James Hibbard of Vancouver, BC on May 4, 2014. Born in Halifax, NS, July 21st, 1935, 'Dick', loving husband of Shannon, passed away peacefully at the CPMC in San Francisco with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shannon, daughter Julie (Tim), son Bruce (Margie), grandchildren Connor and Grace, and predeceased by his brother William.
He was a lifetime member of the Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club, and Past Director of the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Treasured memories include serving in the Navy, playing against the New Zealand All Blacks, fishing, especially at Langara, gardening and entertaining with family and friends.
Dick was an ardent fundraiser for multiple causes; in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Heart and Stoke Foundation or the BC Kidney Foundation. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 3 pm at the VLTBC.
